Julian Beever

Although the two people seemed to be falling down the fairy wheel, they are actually just sitting on a bench. The images were drawn in front of the piece of land by chalks. Because the photo was taken at the right angle, the whole image forms an illusion and let the whole thing looked like 3 dimensional art work.
Julian Beever is an English chalk artist. I know this artist is not on the list given by the link, but I really like this artist. I think his art is very creative and humorous. I first knew about him is from my Speech & Debate class, just this semester. We were presenting the biography of an artist of our own choice, and one of my classmates did a presentation on Julian Beever.

He uses a projection technique called anamorphosis to create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle (Wikipedia). When the images are viewed at wrong angle, it will look weird, but if they're viewed at the right angle, they will form illusions and turn into 3D, which is really cool.

It is often possible to position a person within the image as if they were interacting with the scene.

The last picture is the one I love the most.

I first thought this picture is like in a water park and the two people are having fun. But then, I realized the picture was not finished yet .... They're heading toward a alligator!!

I like all of Julian Beever's artworks and I really wish that I could have a chance to take a look at his works. It would be really inviting and interesting to take a photo "in" his artworks!
